Private Health M.D. is a concierge medical practice in Winter Park, Florida. Dr. Ivan Castro's emphasis is achievement of optimum health through counseling on exercise, weight management, appropriate dietary habits and use of available medical technology. All done with a warm human touch, of course.
The practice is fully computerized including paperless charting and electronic billing. We are equipped for electronic transmission of information to Quest, LabCorp and Winter Park Memorial Hospital labs as well as all involved pharmacies that our patients use.
The patient portal allows email communication with our staff and physician using protected, secure, HIPPA compliant software.
The doctor carries a patient dedicated cell-phone for emergency communication without the need for an answering service. Coverage will be provided when the doctor is out of town.
Inpatient care is provided at Winter Park Memorial Hospital, Florida Hospital South, East, and North (Altamonte).
The practice is limited to a set number of patients thus making same day appointments possible and an hour or more provided for comprehensive physical examinations.

Jenn: Reception
Many of you already know Jenn from her many years working with Dr. Castro at his former practice. Jenn is a valuable asset to PHMD for her knowledge in internal medicine and bright disposition. Jenn began working with Dr. Castro in 2003 and followed him to PHMD. It is her goal to get to know patients on an individual level to provide more personalized care. She enjoys the feeling of accomplishment her job brings. Besides working as our receptionist, Jenn is also proficient in IT systems and helps keep our network up and running.
Marla, LPN: Nursing
Aiding you in your health care every step of the way, Marla brings nursing expertise to PHMD. A true local, Marla graduated from Lyman High School then completed her nursing training in Central Florida. Over the years she has gained hands on experience in Internal Medicine, OB-GYN, Cardiology, and Endocrinology. Marla takes a special interest in diabetic care and treatment, taking time to counsel patients on living with diabetes. With her broad experience, Marla truly understands your health care needs. She feels that being a part of PHMD validates her love of nursing and she looks forward to working with you and Dr. Castro to achieve your health care goals.
Cyndi: Accounting and Billing
Managing our billing and accounting department, Cyndi joins us from a background in medical billing and management. Graduating from Stetson with a BS degree in Biology, Cyndi began working in healthcare in 1994. Starting at the front desk of a large medical practice, she soon began working in medical billing. In 1998, Cyndi helped open a solo practice where she successfully managed the practice until the physician's retirement in 2007. Cyndi enjoys working in a small medical practice where fellow staff and patients become family. She shares Dr. Castro's interest in triathlons and also enjoys martial arts and spending time with her husband of twelve years.
