  • Why is an there Annual Membership Fee?

    The Annual Membership Fee ensures limited patient enrollment, which optimizes the doctor to patient ratio.

  • Does my insurance cover the Annual Membership Fee?

    Commercial insurance plans do not cover the Annual Membership Fee.

  • Can the Annual Membership Fee be applied to our deductible?

    The Annual Membership Fee cannot be applied to your insurance deductible. However, if your employer has a Flex Plan (Section 125) or a Medical IRA, you may be able to receive reimbursement for the Annual Membership Fee with these pre-tax dollars. We recommend that you talk to your employer or tax advisor for more information about this.

  • Can the Annual Membership Fee be applied to my office visit co-pays?

    With Private Health MD, there is no office visit co-pay.

  • I am a Medicare patient. How does our insurance plan apply to their program?

    Although Medicare rules and guidelines are quite complicated, Medicare patients may join our practice with their Annual Membership Fee. Private Health MD does not bill Medicare or participate as a Medicare provider.

  • How does Private Health MD Work With my health insurance?

    Private Health MD is a membership-based program that is designed to work in conjunction with, not replace, your traditional health insurance. Our concierge program is designed to complement and enhance the benefits of commercial insurance plans and Medicare.

  • What is included in the Annual Comprehensive Wellness Examination?

    • Collection and review of medical history
    • Review of recommendations from consulting physicians
    • Comprehensive physical examination
    • Medication review and reconciliation
    • EKG
    • Urinalysis
    • Review of laboratory testing
    • Establishment of  screening examination schedule

    Services that are not covered by the Annual Membership Fee include diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, procedures and referral appointments.

  • If I need to be referred to a specialist what will happen?

    To ensure continuity of care, we will assist in referrals to specialists. We feel communication between Dr. Castro as your primary care physician and referred specialists is crucial to your health.

  • Do Dr. Castro and Lauren admit and consult their patients in the hospital?

    Dr. Castro and Lauren have staff privileges at AdventHealth hospitals (AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth  Winter Park, AdventHealth East Orlando and AdventHealth Altamonte). They follow you during your hospital stay, communicate with the hospital specialists, and see you for your follow-up visits.

  • If I only come to the doctor a few times a year, what are the benefits of joining Private Health MD?

    We believe health and prevention of disease should be a top priority. As one ages, there is a need for immediate access to the doctor and to timely lab and test results. We believe this is a wise investment in your health. A concierge style of practice advises the right treatment rather than what the insurers will approve. We feel expert advice and access is invaluable to your continued health. As with most things in life, being prepared for the unexpected is key.

  • What happens when I need to see a doctor after hours or on the weekend?

    You will have access to Dr. Castro and Lauren by mobile phone for urgent and emergent needs after hours and on weekends. They can still guide the health care decision-making even if they do not see you in the office.
